Havara: Billing, Renewal, Cancellation and Refunds
Effective October 8, 2026
Your community pays Havara once a year. It renews automatically unless someone cancels. A board member can cancel at any time, from inside the console, without asking us. Cancelling stops the next charge; it does not end the term you have already paid for, so your community keeps everything until that term runs out. Residents never pay Havara anything.
These billing terms take effect on October 8, 2026, the same date as the version of the Terms of Service that incorporates them (Terms, Section 7). They are published ahead of that date so a board has them before they apply.
1. Who pays, and who does not
Residents never pay Havara. There is no member fee, and no screen in Havara asks a resident for card or bank details. Your HOA dues are between you and your community and never move through the Service. See the Terms of Service, Section 7.
The community pays. One subscription per community, bought by a board member or another administrator with billing authority.
2. What you are charged, and when
- The subscription is annual. One charge, covering twelve months.
- The price depends on your tier and the number of homes in your community. Every price is shown before you buy, on the pricing page and again on Stripe's checkout page.
- Checkout is hosted by Stripe. Card details are entered on Stripe's own pages. Havara never receives or stores them.
- The trial takes no card, and never turns into a charge on its own. Every community starts on a trial. We do not ask for a payment method to start one, and nothing is billed until a board member completes checkout.
- What happens if a trial is not converted. When the trial period ends the community keeps full access for a further seven days while a board member is asked to subscribe. If nobody subscribes in that time, the community becomes read only: everyone can still read everything, nothing is deleted, and subscribing at any point restores writing with all content intact. We say this here rather than let it be discovered.
3. It renews automatically, and here is exactly what that means
Your subscription renews for another twelve months, at the end of each term, unless it is cancelled first. Stripe charges the payment method on file on the renewal date. This is how the subscription is set up and we would rather say it plainly here than leave you to discover it.
- Where to see your renewal date. The console shows it: Settings, then the Billing card, on a community with an active subscription and a billing history. If that row is not showing and you need the date, write to us and we will tell you.
- We do not currently send a reminder email before a renewal, and there is no other automatic notice. We are saying so plainly rather than letting you assume one is coming. If a renewal date matters to you, note it, or cancel early: cancelling early costs you nothing, because access runs to the end of the paid term either way.
- A price change is never applied to a term you have already paid for, and we will tell you about a change before it is charged. See Section 7.
- If the payment fails, we do not switch the community off that day. Stripe retries, and your community keeps working while it does.
4. How to cancel
Any board member with billing authority can cancel, at any time, without contacting us and without explaining why.
- Open the console at app.havara.app
- Go to Settings
- In the Billing card, choose Manage billing
- Cancel there
That opens Stripe's billing portal. If for any reason the portal does not offer you a cancel option, email [email protected] from an address on the community's board and we will cancel it for you, effective the same day you write. Either route stops the next charge; neither shortens the term you have already paid for.
5. What happens when you cancel
Cancelling stops the next charge. It does not cut your community off that day.
- Your community keeps full access, unchanged, until the end of the term you have already paid for. The console shows the exact date access ends.
- Nothing is deleted on that date. When a subscription lapses the community becomes read only on its principal surfaces: everyone can still read everything, and each member can still export their own data from the app. Nobody can post new chat messages, new announcements, new bookings or new document uploads until the community is reactivated. Note that this reaches residents, not only the board. See the Terms, Section 11.
- The community's records as a whole are returned by request, not by a self-serve button: write to [email protected] and we aim to return them within 30 days.
- A lapsed subscription is not a one way door. Subscribing again restores writing, with all of the community's content intact.
- If you want the community's data removed rather than left read only, that is a separate request the HOA makes to us. See the Terms, Section 11.
- Any resident can delete their own account at any time, whatever the community's subscription is doing. That is never gated on payment. See the account deletion page.
6. Refunds
We do not refund part of a term you have already paid for. Cancelling ends the renewal, not the term, and your community keeps everything it paid for until that term runs out. That is the trade: you get the whole year, and we do not claw part of it back.
We always refund a charge that should not have happened. If you were billed twice, billed after cancelling, billed the wrong tier or size band, or charged for a community you never subscribed to, tell us and we will refund it in full. Write to [email protected] with the community name and the date of the charge. We will answer within five business days.
Nothing here takes away a right you have by law. Some places give buyers refund or cancellation rights that a contract cannot sign away. If your jurisdiction gives you such a right, you keep it, and this section does not apply to the extent it conflicts.
7. Price changes
If we change the price of a tier, the change does not apply to a term you have already paid for. It applies at your next renewal, and we tell you before that renewal is charged, in time for you to cancel instead. See the Terms, Section 19.
8. Chargebacks, and what we would rather you did
If something has gone wrong with a charge, please write to us first. A refund we issue is faster than a chargeback and does not put your community's access at risk while a bank investigates. We have never refused a duplicate or erroneous charge and do not intend to start.
9. Contact
[email protected] for anything on this page. Please include the community name and, for a billing question, the date and amount of the charge.
